Ann Gottesman is a graduate from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, where she earned her Juris Doctor degree in 2005. She passed the California Bar on her first attempt and was thereafter sworn in as a licensed California attorney. Ann's legal pursuits have always been focused on the practice area of criminal law and procedure. While in law school, Ann clerked for Justice Earl Johnson Jr., of the Second District Court of Appeal. She assisted Justice Johnson with the drafting of judicial opinions, one of which was published as a case of first impression. (People v. Russell (2005) 129 Cal.App.4th 776.)
In 2005 and 2006, Ann worked for Marilee Marshall and Associates, a Los Angeles firm specializing in criminal appellate law. She then became an associate for the Law Office of Michael Cabrera, where she represented clients in criminal and immigration cases. She eventually joined the Law Office of the Public Defender in Riverside, CA, because she wanted to help ensure indigent defendants received fair representation.
While a Deputy Public Defender, Ann has successfully represented clients in trial and preliminary hearings. Ann's experience and aggressive, yet tempered demeanor in court has allowed her to develop a good personal rapport with the District Attorneys and Judges. This has resulted in Ann achieving the best possible results for her clients. After leaving the Public Defender's office, Ann initially opened her practice in Riverside, CA. However, in December of 2008, Ann moved her office to Pasadena, CA, which is located in Los Angeles county. Ann's Pasadena criminal defense firm specializes in traffic, misdemeanor and felony cases. While Ann's criminal defense firm is now located in Pasadena, CA, she continues to successfully represent clients in the Riverside and San Bernardino courts.
